ISLAND WATERSPORTS LANZAROTE is an English run dive centre and dive shop, owned and operated by Norman Sparrow, and is based in the exclusive Puerto Calero Marina.

As a PADI DIVE CENTRE we offer the complete range of PADI diver training programmes, from Discover Scuba Diving through to Divemaster, as well as a wide choice of specialty courses for those wishing to broaden their diving experiences. A range of Emergency First Response (first-aid and cpr) courses are also available.

As a BS-AC PREMIER AND SEAMANSHIP CENTRE we offer a comprehensive range of BS-AC diving and skill development courses. Our facilities are also ideal for dive clubs wishing to carry out training for their members.

We are also an RYA TRAINING CENTRE offering a choice of powerboating courses from Level 1 through to Advanced, including ICC tests. Shorebased VHF (SRC) radio courses are also available.

Qualified divers are offered a minimum of 2 boat dives each day from our fully equipped 7.5 metre RIB. Our daily dive trips are flexible and can be adapted to suit our clients' requirements. For groups we are able to offer a 'tailored diving schedule' to suit their needs.

'Try a Dive' sessions are held daily for those wanting to experience scuba diving for the first time.

A wide range of quality diving and snorkelling equipment from a variety of leading brand names, is available for sale at competitive prices from our dive shop.

The spectacular volcanic landscapes of Lanzarote continue underwater where there are walls, drop-off's, lava flows with beautiful swim-through's, overhangs, caverns and a variety of wreck dives which offer the visiting diver a wide choice of underwater scenery and dive sites. There is abundant marine life to be seen, from the small arrow crabs, octopus, cuttlefish and nudibranches, to the large tuna, jacks, groupers, rays, angel sharks and shoals of barracuda. More than 350 different species of fish and 1200 different types of invertebrates have been recorded in our waters.

Lanzarote is the most northerly of the 7 Canary Islands and is located on the same latitude as Florida and the Red Sea. Situated approximately 95 kms off the west coast of Africa in the Atlantic Ocean, we enjoy a sub-tropical climate which allows year round diving in clear calm waters and provides a perfect holiday destination for the whole family.

NEWS

18/10/07 - This week saw the King Of Norway's yacht HNoMY Norge visit Puerto Calero marina.  The marina had to be dredged to accommodate the draft of the vessel.
Needless to say the yacht dwarfed all the other boats in the marina!

24/10/07 - The Ericsson Racing Team has set up home in Puerto Calero marina and will be with us until the next Volvo Round the World Yacht Race starts in 2008.  With a staff of 75 plus family members, and taking up a large portion of the marina, Puerto Calero is currently a hive of activity.
